Finished in November 2014, it is an impressive, 4 bedroom Swahili style house that sleeps 10 people + a baby.The villa, which is set in 1 acre of land, is spread over 3 floors and is just a 10 minute stroll from the stunning beaches of the Indian Ocean. We decided to build the house after an anniversary holiday to Kenya several years ago when we fell in love with the country and its people. Each trip now feels like going home.The property is available to rent and comes fully staffed with a chef, housekeeper and a gardener as well as a night time askari (security guard). Our friendly staff will be on hand to help make your holiday as relaxing and enjoyable as possible.The property is surrounded with a high wall topped with an electric fence. This is, along with alarm buttons in every room, connected to G4s security around the clock.The VillaKiboko Nyumba is a 700m² villa on 3 floors located in a 1 acre plot set back 100 meters from Turtle Bay Road. Great for family holidays, parties or group gatherings, it is an ideal place to spend your holiday being pampered by our wonderful staff away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The ceiling fans in every room along with the makuti roof and open grill windows mean that you can benefit from the cooling coastal breezes without the need for power-hungry air conditioning units. There is ample space for entertaining in the open plan lounge, the relaxing top terrace, the large verandah or around the pool.Ground FloorThe vast 14m x 12m living space is open plan with a lounge area that includes 3 large sofas and a 50 inch tv. This comes with a dvd player and dstv satellite which can be upgraded for the duration of your holiday to include the sports channels at an extra cost. The house has business grade Wi-fi which guests can use free of charge. The dining section has a table which seats 10 and a bar with refrigerator and water cooler.The verandah has cushioned seating on one side and another 10 seater dining table for al fresco eating. The ground floor also has a large fully equipped kitchen, a laundry room and a store room as well as a shower and toilet.First FloorThe wide staircase opens onto a covered balcony overlooking the pool and garden. Leading from this are two of the bedrooms. The first is 8m x 4m and has 2 hand carved double beds. Between the built in wardrobes there is an entrance into the en-suite shower room. The second benefits from having open grill work across the doorway ensuring the room remains cool even on the hottest days of your holiday. Further along the landing there is a third room with an en-suite shower room and includes free standing furniture.Second FloorThe spiral staircase takes you from the first floor landing up to the makuti covered roof terrace. This impressive open space of 12m x 8m has plenty of seating and a second bar with refrigerator and water cooler. Decorated in the Swahili style with locally made furniture and an antique persian rug this is the ideal place for relaxing with a drink or two to watch the sun go down. It is also perfect for hosting events and parties. Leading from this is the master bedroom suite. This 6m x 8m room is furnished with a 2.4m bed and more hand made furniture. The dressing room is 4m x 4m and is again furnished by local craftsmen. The large en-suite has twin Italian designer sinks and a walk in shower. All of the bedrooms have louvred shutters to the windows and floor to ceiling mosquito nets around the beds. The staff will prepare your rooms each night before you retire. There are also 2 travel cots with mosquito nets for small children.OutsideThe 1 acre garden is enclosed by a 2 metre high wall covered with bougainvillea and topped with an alarmed, electric fence. Inside there are a variety of tropical plants and fruit trees including paw paw, bananas and coconuts. The 8m x 10m swimming pool which extends to a depth of 2.3 metres is surrounded by galana patio with sun loungers. Behind the pool we have a grass area ideal for playing ball games. Equipment is available from the staff. At the far end of the veranda there is a professional table tennis table and a darts board. Discretely situated at the end of the grounds is a 3 bedroomed staff house ensuring availability of assistance if needed during your holiday.LocationKiboko Nyumba is located just off Turtle Bay Road which links Watamu Village and Temple Point and is situated amongst small shambas (farms). Goats and cows are regular visitors to the path at the side of the villa meaning guests are immediately immersed into local Kenyan life, however a very short drive by car or Tuk Tuk takes you straight to the the heart of the village. The beach access road is just a few minutes walk from house and within 10 minutes you can be stepping onto the glistening white sand of Watamu Beach.Our ServicesRama, our cook, will be happy to prepare a wide variety of dishes as well as classic Swahili foods. Shopping while on holiday in Watamu is easy and enjoyable. For groceries and supplies you can either pop into the village in a tuk-tuk, order by phone and have it delivered or you can ask our staff to shop for you. If you would like us to get any provisions in for when you arrive please let us know and we will arrange it.Local fishermen will come to the house with their daily catch including king prawns, lobster and local fish, weather permitting. All towels and linens including pool towels are supplied. Bedding is changed weekly unless requested. Our staff will be happy to do guest's laundry daily. It will be returned to you beautifully ironed either folded or on hangers. This is all included in the price.The house is supplied with 3 phase power but in case of an outage we also have an automatic diesel generator. All of the hot water is heated using solar panels seated above the 40,000 litre cold water storage tank ensuring a constant supply.As well as 24 hour G4s cover we are also members of Watamu Against Crime (wac) a local community group which has funded 4 surveillance cars that patrol the area making Watamu one of the safest areas in Kenya. The local community have also funded a fully equipped Red Cross ambulance to be stationed in the village so that in the case of an emergency speedy transport to hospital is available. The nearest airport is Malindi which is a 20 minute drive to Watamu. It is served by connecting flights from Nairobi by Kenya Airways and Fly 540. The international airport at Mombasa is 2 hours away from Watamu as is the newly opened Sgr. We can arrange pick up by car from any of these locations.Watamu is located on the Kenya coast 105 kilometers north of Mombasa and 15 kilometers south of the town of Malindi. The village lies between pristine beaches and lush tropical rainforest and two protected areas: Watamu Marine National Park and Arabuko Sokoke National Park.
