The Tumbling Weir is a thatched hotel converted from a 17th Century cottage nestling between the River Otter and its mill stream. The hotel is family owned and run and is in a very tranquil rural setting with access down a very narrow lane off the main road . The Tumbling Weir has a 2 star hotel rating with both the AA and Visit England. The hotel enjoys an excellent location in East Devon being 12 miles away from Exeter. It is just 4 miles from Exeter airport and within easy reach of the M5 and the coastal delights of Sidmouth and the Jurassic Coast. The hotel has its own restaurant serving local West Country produce imaginatively cooked and beautifully presented. Interesting food is available everyday for either lunch or dinner.The breakfasts are famous with homemade preserves and the freshest local eggs and sausages. The Tumbling Weir Hotel is set in nearly an acre of pretty landscaped gardens with interesting plantings and extensive wildlife. A new terrace overlooks the gardens and is an ideal spot to enjoy the peace and quiet of the rural aspect yet the town centre is only a 5 minute level walk. Ottery St Mary is an ancient town mentioned in the Domesday Book and has much to admire with a beautiful church interesting walks and great shopping. The 10 bedrooms have very comfortable beds smart linen down bedding and a range of English toiletries. There is a mix of singles doubles and twins with one interconnecting family room and a delightful four poster.The majority of the bedrooms are quite compact but have good quality furnishings great views and they are a haven of peace and quiet far away from traffic noise and street lights. Free WI-FI is available throughout the hotel including the bedrooms. The Otter Suite is the perfect location for weddings conferences meetings and parties. The light filled room overlooks the tranquil gardens and the function menus on offer are interesting and keenly priced.There is ample free parking.

Directions: By Road: From M5 exit at J29 onto the A30 Honiton direction. Take Daisymount exit and follow the B3174 to Ottery St Mary. After crossing the bridge on Mill Street the Hotel entrance is approximately 100 yards on the left. Follow the brown sign down the narrow lane beside the Old Mill. Please disregard satellite navigation systems as they will direct you to the long stay car park which is adjacent to our Hotel but does not have vehicular access to our car park. From A30 ignore the first slip road to Ottery St Mary and continue on the A30 following the truck route. Exit at the next slip road following signs to Ottery St Mary. You are now on the B3174 and can follow the directions as above. By Air: 4 miles from Exeter International Airport a 10 minute drive. By Rail: From Honiton Station 6 miles a 15 minute drive. From Exeter St Davids Station 12 miles a 20 minute drive.
