Tinpickle and Rhum is the homely informal brasserie with a warm heart (log fire) and sense of humour. 2016 marks the centenary of Agatha Christie arriving here for two weeks to write her very first novel The Mysterious Affair at Styles. I booked myself a room in the Moorland Hotel at HayTor. I think I learnt to love the moor in those days. I loved the Tors and the heather and all the wild part of it away from the roads . Whilst the en-suite rooms won t win prizes for contemporary styling they are clean and extremely good value. Dogs and horses very welcome. 10 minutes from the A38 and Bovey Tracey.
