The historic Innere Enge Hotel has been a popular meeting place and excursion destination among the people of Berne since the early 18th century. Eminent visitors here included the Empress Josephine (wife of Napoleon I) who was guest of honour on the occasion of a "Grand Déjeuner" in 1810, and from the gardens enjoyed superb views of the Bernese Alps. Now, nearly two centuries later, the Innere Enge has been completely renovated and is the perfect venue for discerning guests, whether visiting Berne on holiday or business.A quadrilingual secretariat with full facilities is at the service of our guests from Monday to Friday. The Innere Enge is rated in Karen Brown's Guide of Switzerland "Charming Inn's and Itineraries 2004".An outstanding feature of the "Marians Jazzroom" is the "Louis Armstrong Bar", which is connected to the hotel but has its own seperate entrance. Unique in the world, this superb setting offers guests drinks, snacks, food - and fun, with the finest in traditional jazz performed live by top international stars.Marians Jazzroom is renowned as one of the best Jazzrooms in the world.Every year, from March until May, the International Jazzfestival of Berne takes place at Marians Jazzroom.The "Innere Enge" offers 26 spacious rooms, each individually designed to satisfy the highest standards of comfort and convenience. Seven rooms are dedicated to the great Jazz Musicians, Hazy Osterwald, Clark Terry, Lionel Hampton, Milt Hinton, Wild Bill Davison, John Lewis and Louie Bellson. These rooms are decorated with personal objects of these musicians.
