At the dawn of the 19th century, local business was attracted due to numerous industries in the Ruoms region with the mining of stone (base of the Statue of Liberty) employing some 500 workers and some 150 people in the breweries. In 1876 the Hotel Théodore was built and it became a main meeting place. The owners were able to develop this asset, by combining it with a stagecoach service, ensuring the Joyeuse - Ruoms - Vallon mail. History tells of numerous characters who stayed in the hotel, which has still been able to keep its architecture, all the while developing in terms of its comfort. In April 1976, the Hotel Théodore would find, in Max and Annie, influential young managers full of ambition. They were able to adapt and be adopted by Ruoms. Over the next forty years, this pair, with their professional expertise, their understanding of customer relations and their human warmth, have been able to win over a clientèle. They love to receive their customers and talk with them. "A complement delights us, a criticism helps us to progress, we have great hope for the future". In 2016, a new generation arrived with Frédéric, who, after having finished his studies in accounting management, decided to train with the best workers of France, to follow his parents in their profession. Now the Théodore has had a facelift. In a setting in keeping with the times is a 3 star air-conditioned hotel with a pool, sauna, leisure area, etc.
